Race results: MX2 World Championship RD2 – Geerts wins in Riola

Race One: Just like in the MX2 qualifying race – three riders were on another level. Kay de Wolf, Simon Laegenfelder and Jago Geerts put on a masterclass of how to ride the gnarly sand. Geerts had the lead but then crashed dropping to third and then had six seconds to make up. He was able to do it and as he got into the lead again – he stalled and dropping him down to third once again giving himself plenty of work to do.

Geerts caught and passed Laegenfelder and with five minutes to go him and De Wolf went at it and pulled away from the German who settled for third. De Wolf responded to what Geerts threw at him to take a very impressive race win.

Thibault Benistant was the best of the rest in fourth – Liam Everts was riding well in fifth before an off track excursion dropped him to ninth promoting his team mate, Andrea Adamo to fifth.

Race Two: It was Oriol Oliver who grabbed the holeshot in race two but it didn’t take Jago Geerts and Kay de Wolf to get into first and second to go at it for the GP win. De Wolf threw everything at Geerts but just came up short as Geerts now has 18 GP wins to his name.
