Race Results: Atlanta supercross – Sexton dominates!

Chase Sexton dominated at the Atlanta speedway with Justin Barcia passing Ken Roczen mid moto for second but the main battle all eyes were on was for fourth!

Both Cooper Webb and Eli Tomac didn’t get the greatest starts, but Webb came out just ahead of Tomac with Tomac following him through to fourth and fifth respectively. Tomac got unto the back wheel of Webb but the gritty KTM rider wouldn’t give in and even pulled away on the last lap to ensure the points went down to six and did not extend to eight in a gutsy ride.

However, a disappointed Webb said: “I rode like s**t, Eli was all over me, the main goal was to keep him behind me. We got to regroup and get better, that was not good.”

Tomac said: “We were together the whole moto, I was trying to make a pass, I got really close halfway, but could never finish anything. I really blew it on the start. I try to take this as a positive that he was only one position in front of me.”

But the big winner was Chase Sexton who gained nine points on Eli Tomac in the championship and is now 17 points back of Tomac and 11 to Webb.

Hunter Lawrence took the race 250 race win in Atlanta but only after he had a near miss, getting buck wild on lap one and going off the track! Hunter gathered himself back together and re-passed Deegan for the lead to go on and take the win.

Jordon Smith took second safely navigating his way past Deegan this time with Deegan a strong third as Nate Thrasher crashed out in fourth chasing Deegan and had to be stretchered off. It was also a DNF for Tom Vialle who got sandwiched in mid-air on lap one. He eventually got up but looked to be favouring his arm/wrist. Hopefully he is okay for the outdoors!
