It was another strong ride from Ken Roczen in Atlanta that saw the HEP Suzuki rider back on the podium in what has been an impressive year on a bike that many had questioned Roczen riding. We asked Ken Roczen how it was having Larry Brooks as a team manager and what he has been able to learn from the former pro racer who has been team manager for Jeremy McGrath, James Stewart and Chad Reed when they won titles.
Ken said: “I’m definitely always all ears. I think that once you think you are the smartest guy in the room, that is not a good idea. He has got a lot of time under his belt on the racing side of things. I have so enjoyed it. Obviously I was with the same guys for six years, and then just getting a little bit of mix up and new people, we all had to learn each other, right? I think that is part of the fun for me. Every weekend we show up to go race our little crew, we are all hustling. Those guys are doing such a phenomenal job and I really, truly, enjoy it.
“Larry loves the sport soo much and he is so into it that it’s just so fun to work together. He almost freaks out when there is nothing on the bike that I want to change, he wants to work and always make things better. It’s fun, it’s a good time.”
We had caught up with Larry in Tampa to get his thoughts on his new role with HEP Suzuki and working with Ken, listen below:
