Jarne Bervoets disqualified before second EMX85 moto at Loket

Jarne Bervoets didn’t have the weekend he wanted at Loket. After picking up a silver medal at the Junior World Championship in Romania he was motivated for even more in the EMX85 series at Loket.

In the first moto the young Belgian didn’t get a good start but he was able to recover to fifth keeping his hopes of a podium alive. However, during the sighting laps before the second moto, Bervoets had an exhaust problem and entered pit lane.

After getting the issue sorted, Bervoets headed to the start line but was disqualified as riders aren’t permitted to use pit lane during the sighting laps.

Jarne’s father, Marnicq a former top GP rider wasn’t happy with the decision.

“What the hell are we doing? Nobody knows that rule. A ridiculous rule even. You don’t benefit from it, you don’t endanger anyone. And then such a punishment (sigh). A disgrace! We are working here with children aged 13 and 14. You don’t treat them like that. Why don’t they close the pit lane then? Phew, I feel so bad for Jarne. He wanted to put things right after his slightly lesser first series, he still wanted to fight for a medal. He didn’t even get the chance. They took that dream away from him. Saddening”, Marnicq Bervoets stated on social media.
