Haiden Deegan wasn’t afraid to say how comfortable he is on the hard pack conditions, because he grew up in California and is very confident of wrapping up his second successive SMX title in the 250 class.
“I’m not worried about it,” said Haiden after winning all four motos of the SMX series so far. “The goal is to go win, just do the same thing that I have done the last two weeks and it should pay off. I’ve won every moto (so far) but if Tom wins, I still have to get third to win the championship, it’s kind of crazy how that format works but I think it keeps you on your toes and it’s also really good for me too, because when I have a challenge put in front of me, that’s when I excel. One round to go and it’s definitely going to be a challenge because you have to go out and win and do the same thing I have done at the last two rounds.”
Deegan also comments on the opportunity to go 1-1 and his love of hard pack tracks like Vegas is this weekend. “That’s a good goal to try and sweep a series, obviously the championship is what everyone remembers, so that is the main goal. The 1-1 is a goal too I want to try and achieve. I’m a Cali kid so get me on a hard pack track and I can go as fast as I want pretty much, that’s how Vegas will be. When you get on the Cali solid dirt, I really enjoy it, I am comfortable and I know where the edge is, I can push the edge really hard there, it should be good.”
