Haiden Deegan crashed out of second place under pressure from Jorge Prado, got up, survived a shoulder charge from Ken Roczen before knocking his teammate, Cooper Webb, down in the next turn to take third in a crazy lap of SMX in LA!
Webb said: “I was pissed. It’s unfortunate. We are teammates, we are buddies, we are training partners and I am all for aggressive racing but I think a lack of respect from the kid is the common problem. He has no respect for anybody else. I’m bummed. I was rolling, he was obviously faster and made a mistake but still, I’m the guy at the end of the race and I’m just bummed. It’s one thing for the win…we will see what happens. One more race with this team and I will make hell sure he don’t win this thing that’s for sure. It will be an interesting week. I was a little bit off speedwise, I was a 4th/5th place guy. It will be a fun week…”
Deegan said: “A little unfortunate I went down, I was riding so well, I made some good passes. I got back up and some goon hammers my hand (Roczen). Unfortunately I kind of panicked and rode Coop a little dirty, I didn’t want to do that to a teammate but I wanted every position I could get because it’s three rounds , you gotta do what you gotta do. No hard feelings there, sorry about that, but I just wanted those positions! Speed was good, we will come out swinging in the last round”
