Official: Carson Mumford extends his contract with AEO Powersport Racing

Carson Mumford has secured his future with AEO Powersports Racing officially announcing a contract extension that will see the American talent remain with the team through the 2029 season.

Mumford enjoyed a breakout campaign in the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, finishing seventh in the 250cc standings and showcasing his potential against some of the leading talent in American motocross.

Following his impressive season, AEO Powersports Racing have moved to secure his services for the long term, extending their partnership for a further three seasons. The deal highlights the team’s confidence in Mumford and their plans to continue developing their racing programme over the coming years.

AEO Powersports Racing are expected to switch to factory Husqvarna machinery from the 2027 season, although the manufacturer partnership has yet to be officially confirmed. With Mumford now secured through 2029, the team can focus on building its future programme with the American rider playing a key role.

AEO Powersports Racing owner Jeremy Scism explained the decision to extend Mumford’s contract:

“When we first signed Carson, I said I felt like we could break the cycle he had been in and build something meaningful together. At the time, that meant giving him the stability and platform to show everyone what he could do. Now, less than a year into working together, we’ve already extended his original deal once for 2027 and are sitting here committing to another two years beyond that. I think that says a lot about how far this relationship has come and how much we believe in where it can go. Carson has become a huge part of this team, both on and off the track, and there’s a level of trust between all of us that you can’t build overnight. We know what he needs, he knows what we expect, and everyone involved is pulling in the same direction. We have some very big things in the works for the future of AEO, and before we start announcing those next steps, it was important to me that Carson was secured as a major part of them. We’re growing this program together, and I’m excited for him to help lead us into what comes next.”

With his future confirmed, Mumford will now look to build on his 2026 campaign and continue his progression with AEO Powersports Racing over the next three seasons.
