Chad Reed on Jett Lawrence v Deegan at High Point in practice

The High Point drama with Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan has had everyone talking, including Chad Reed, who will always give his honest opinion.

Here, in conversation with Ricky Carmichael on a brilliant episode of Title 24, Reed says he enjoys Deegan’s antics because it adds more colour to the sport.

Reed opined: “I just think it’s funny and my personal opinion on it is that I love it. It changes our, let’s call it the last 10 years of vanilla, and it starts to bring back some flair and you’ve got guys that genuinely just hate to lose, want to win, want to battle. I think if you divide them up individually, you know, I think that Jett, he has the 450 experience. He has the wins. He’s continuing to show that he’s still the class of the field.

“Haiden is closer than it appears. I think he’s doing really well. He’s managing it. He’s still doing his thing and you know, he’s still talking and this past week you start seeing Jett doing this and I think as much as I hate to say it, but I think that this weekend it would be hard for me to say that that Haiden didn’t affect Jett’s weekend. Jett’s single lap was so impressive and then he backed it up with this crash that was so out of character and it was just, in my opinion, it was Jett not in the present and it was Jett just having more thoughts, more ideas, more things going on than than maybe what he’s used to.”

“So many things like that can go wrong in so many ways so quickly, you know and Haiden, you know, again stirring the pot and he takes little jabs in the right areas.”
