Brian Deegan on what makes Haiden and Carmichael so fast in the corners!

In an interesting conversation with Haiden, Brian Deegan spoke about his sons corner speed and reminisced about watching Ricky Carmichael’s corner speed on a 60!

Brian said: “There’s certain turns for it, outdoors, dragging the bar, you have corner speed a lot of people don’t and if that means lay your foot out, drag bars and haul ass, that’s what it is. Certain people just can’t go those speeds in the turns so feet on the pegs is probably fine for them..” Was that a dig at Jett Lawrence?!

Deegan continued: “I think it’s a lot to do with growing up and what your rode and then also it’s just natural. I think you are born with a certain feeling. Look at Carmichael, I was around when he was 8 years old and he was dragging bars at 8 on a 65! I was like ‘why is he so good?!’ He was just born like that, he had it in him. It’s a balance, it’s a feeling and certain people have it and certain people don’t. Carmicheal mixed the training with it and became a multi-time champion.”

Meanwhile Haiden feels he has a good setting for on his 450 Star Yamaha to begin the outdoors series in what will be his AMA debut on the big bike and his first race against Jett Lawrence!

Haiden said of his 450 outdoor set-up: “I feel like we lot of good bike set-up on the bike, did some testing, got it dialled in. Got a lot of good outdoor prep in, so I am stoked on that, got a good bike setting, solid there.”
