Young Dutch talent Danée Gelissen has officially confirmed a move from Yamaha to Husqvarna machinery for the 2026 season as she prepares for another year competing in the WMX World Championship.
Gelissen has continued to make steady progress year-on-year in the highly competitive WMX class and is targeting another step forward in 2026, with the goal of establishing herself as a consistent top five contender at world championship level. Her development and results over recent seasons have marked her out as one of the rising talents in the paddock.
The move to Husqvarna is a significant one for the Dutch rider, who will not only be adapting to new machinery but will also benefit from direct factory support — a clear sign of confidence in her potential and future prospects.
With a new bike, additional backing, and another year of experience under her belt, Gelissen will be looking to make the most of this new chapter and continue her upward trajectory in the WMX World Championship in 2026.
We asked Gelissen about her setup, goals and more for the 2026 season:
“I will be racing as a private rider, but with great support directly from Husqvarna factory. I am very grateful for their trust and for the opportunity to be supported with bikes for the upcoming season. Alongside this, I have been able to bring in several other sponsors who make it possible for me to compete at this level and continue chasing my dreams”, Gelissen told GateDrop.com.
“ I made the switch to Husqvarna because from the very first moment it felt right. The bike suited me immediately, and the support and confidence I received from Husqvarna gave me a very positive feeling about this new chapter”, added Gelissen.
“For 2026, my main goal is to keep developing myself as a rider and become more consistent throughout the season. I want to fight closer to the front and continue building step by step toward my long-term goals of podium finishes and, ultimately, becoming a world-class rider. I am extremely motivated and thankful for everyone who believes in me and supports me on this journey”, Gelissen concluded.
