Lucas Coenen might just be getting healthy enough to show his true speed on the 450 after topping the MXGP time sheets in the mud at Cozar. Isak Gifting was second with Brian Bogers third, in a session that mixed up the running order. Tim Gajser was seventh with Renaux back in thirteenth.
Due to the conditions some riders elected not to take part in free practice – Andrea Bonacorsi and Valentin Guillod the most notable.
Mathis Valin underlined why he might be the next breakthough star this season in MX2 by going fastest in the mud from Simon Langenfelder, Liam Everts and Sacha Coenen with Quentin Prugnieres fast in fifth.
Factory Triumph riders, Guillem Farres and Camden McLellan didn’t take part in free practice as well as Samuel Nilsson.
