Video: James Stewart on Lawrence waving Roczen through

If anyone might know what is going through Jett Lawrence’s mind it might be James Stewart! Back in 2002 as a raw 16 year old, Stewart, who was leading the 125 outdoor series, let Chad Reed passed at Unadilla just so he could pass him back and prove he was better! Cold and ruthless!

Lawrence was different as he sat behind Roczen although Ken admitted he thought Jett’s plan maybe was to pass him back!

Stewart said: “It could be that he didn’t want to get passed by anybody and that he knew Kenny would pass him let’s say he had arm pump, and it would be better to let him go, but I feel like in that situation you make the guy pass you.

“The other part is which I do kind of believe because he thought it would switch points, the only problem was the math was off, if that is the case he was going off the outdoor set-up, the fact is the overall wasn’t going to change. I can see how in the middle of the race how you would think that (coming off outdoor points format). I believe that’s more likely. I think it was a scenario where he thought it was going to change some things that would benefit him for the championship.”
