Jeffrey Herlings was leading on the opening lap but had Lucas Coenen to deal with. The Belgian was able to make a move stick and then dominated the race. Coenen looks superb in difficult conditions.
Herlings had de Wolf for company but was able to pull away from the MXGP rookie who finished third ahead of Romain Febvre.
Ruben Fernandez had a solid race in fifth ahead of the home hero, Pauls Jonass.
Tim Gajser had a bad start but came though to seventh on his factory Yamaha.
Maxime Renaux and Andrea Bonacorsi both had big crashes – hopefully both are okay for tomorrow.
