The Montevarchi circuit is very technical and tricky for the riders but it was Andrea Adamo who was leading on the first lap of race one. The Factory KTM rider started to pull away at the front but his team mate, Sacha Coenen went down after contact from Valerio Lata. Simon Längenfelder was on the move and he got into second and started to slowly catch Adamo. He got the gap down to three seconds but then with around four laps to go was right on Adamo’s back wheel. Backmarkers then started to cause havoc and with two to go Adamo had a small crash which allowed Längenfelder the win. Lata rode well for third ahead of his team mate, Zanchi with Valk rounding out the top five.
The second moto saw Coenen grab the holeshot and the front four riders were all quite close in a nice battle. Zanchi ended up passing Coenen to get himself into the lead but then crashed out. Längenfelder got to the front but Adamo was pushing hard and closed up to his back wheel to set up an exciting last couple of laps. But then Adamo lost power and had a technical issue but Längenfelder was strong to go 1-1 – Adamo still won the championship.
