The opening race was an exciting battle between Jeffrey Herlings and Romain Febvre. Herlings had the early lead before Febvre passed him at around the halfway mark but Herlings didn’t let him get away and with a couple of laps to go passed him back to take the win.
Calvin Vlaanderen was way back but was able to recover to third with Jere Haavisto a strong fourth.
The second moto was another battle between the MXGP elite as Herlings led but Febvre was keeping things close at the front until a couple of laps to go when Herlings established a nice lead to go 1-1 on the day.
The pair were setting a very high pace – nearly a minute ahead of Vlaanderen. Sterry had a good ride for fifth on his Schmicker KTM.
