James Stewart on Eli Tomac – one of the best ever

James Stewart has given his analyses on Eli Tomac’s season and his performance in Seattle that saw him run away from the field and continue his domination of the 2022 supercross season.

Stewart said in the latest edition of Bubba’s world: “You find a new perspective on enjoying racing in a different way. What I believe, Eli has found a new perspective on life in general. He has a kid now, maybe two, he is almost playing with house money. Nobody thought he would be this good (in 2022) I don’t even think he thought he would be this good.

“So, I think he has found enjoyment in racing. You can just kind of tell, in the press conferences, he looks super laid back. Now, he is on a roll, that is great position to be in from the bike, family life to the team, Everything is just rolling.

“Back in the day when I went 24-0 and Eli won his championships, I could tell he didn’t enjoy it that much – I didn’t. You win and your whole goal is to win and if you don’t do it your whole week is messed up. Now, he’s winning but if he doesn’t he’s going home, changing diapers and enjoying life. It’s a process in enjoying the moments in between the victories. You can see that fulfilmet in his racing.

“We are watching history, really. We are watching one of the best guys that has ever raced supercross at his best when people kind of wrote him off. At this point these guys are racing for second. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a rider change the way everbody else rides, he’s changing the way those guys are approaching their racing.

“That’s the best I’ve ever seen that guy ride. Period. His minute wins, whatever, that’s the best I’ve ever seen that guy ride, especially on a supercross ride. You are watching one of the best guys that has ever raced in the history of supercross. He is one of the best ever to do it, I’m glad I don’t have to race him!
