Hunter Lawrence has revealed he almost raced the Spanish GP this weekend – and Tim Gajser probably wishes he was! If Gajser wins everyone moto this weekend, and Prado finishes second, Prado wins the title on a tie-break of more GP wins.
Hunter told Lewis Phillips on Vital MX: “I was almost racing Spain this weekend, I almost did it, I was all for it. Just last minute, too many moving parts and stuff, it would have been fun, it would have been cool.”
Chase Sexton, before the injury and the start of the SMX series said at the KTM press conference he had also thought of racing in Spain but felt the time was too tight to get back into motocross straight after SMX. Unfortunately for MXGP, neither Lawrence or Sexton will be there now but they still have the MXGP world title on the line with Prado and Gajser having one last dance to decide the 2024 MXGP championship before Prado heads to the USA.
