The Italian Championship gets underway this weekend at the Maggiora track and the Maggiora Park KTM team are gearing up for the opening ride – they have a strong rider line up to take on the MX2 class.

With Paolo Lugana, Eugenio Barbaglia and Tommaso Sarasso under the awning they will be hoping for competitive results – not only in Italy but also in the EMX250 series.

We caught up with the riders ahead of the Italian series:

Paolo Lugana: For the third consecutive year I am with the Maggiora park team and I feel very good. The winter preparation went very well and without interruptions. For 2022, given my good physical condition, I expect to be in the top positions in the Italian championship and in the top 10 of the European championship.

Eugenio Barbaglia: We were talking about the deal at Lommel during the European championship last year and when we came back home we talked about finalizing the deal. So far it has been a bit tough with a shoulder injury but spirits are still high and we are ready for this weekend. I’d love to get a solid podium in the Italian championship and some good top 10 finishes in the European championship. All while having a good time.

Tommaso Sarasso: The agreement with the team was at the end of the 2020 season, in September. last year it was a season of suffering but also to gain a lot of experience because it was my first year in the 250 class. This years expectations are to do well in the Italian MX2 championship and to qualify for some EMX250 races and score points.
