Lucas Coenen who was riding with a shoulder injury at Arco di Trento set the pace during the MX2 free practice session ahead of Kay de Wolf and Mikkel Haarup. Simon Langenfelder was fourth fastest ahead of reigning champion, Andrea Adamo with Jack Chambers fast in sixth.
In MXGP, Jorge Prado set the pace with an early fast lap but there’s not much to split him and Romain Febvre with Jeffrey Herlings also on the pace. Andrea Bonacorsi is looking fast on his MXGP debut setting the eighth fastest lap time on his Factory Yamaha less than two seconds off the pace.
