Back in 2021, Dean Ferris announced that he was going to retire from professional racing but the Aussie just couldn’t help himself and returned to racing focusing on the Aussie Nationals.
Ferris even lined up at the MXoN last year supporting the Lawrence brothers as they finished second overall at Ernee.
The Aussie is contemplating retirement for real this time but still hasn’t made a final decision.
The former MXGP and AMA rider posted the following update on social media:
Update: As most of you know I took a digger at Maitland resulting in a broken hand and concussion. I’d hoped to be back for these last 2 rounds but with zero preparation after such a long time on the couch, CDR and myself agreed it wouldn’t be wise to compete in the final rounds.
Unfortunately it didn’t workout this year but it sure wasn’t from a lack of trying. I’m getting asked a lot if I’m gonna go around again… Tbh I don’t know. Renae’s online business has really taken off the last couple years so fortunately money is no longer a consideration and I’ve been able to race these last couple seasons just because I love it.
At the moment I’m not sure I want to race again next year but as we’ve learnt, you never know with me. For now, I’m currently in Bali with my family, having a blast travelling to new places, trying new things and taking each day as it comes
