Bas Vaessen latest update – back in the Netherlands

After his crash at the opening round of the British Championship which has left Bas Vaessen with a serious injury, the likeable young Dutch rider has confirmed he’s finally back in the Netherlands.

Vaessen will start rehabilitation soon and his target is to be able to live an independent life once again – he knows it’s going to be hard work but he’s ready to put it in.

“Finally, I arrived back in The Netherlands and I have been transferred to the St. Maartenskliniek (SMK) in Nijmegen. The plan for now is to get checked up and settled in, after which we will start full week programs of rehabilitation. The main focus for now is to get back an independent life again.

I have a lot of faith that, with help of the excellent doctors and therapists here, we will get back to as close as a normal life as possible. As usual, I will gladly put in the hard work necessary to achieve this. I genuinely thank you all for your wonderful support and I wish I could thank you all personally, but at the moment I still have to rely on Bente to keep me updated”, Vaessen stated on social media.
