Hunter Lawrence reveals extent of wrist injury

Hunter Lawrence has revealed the extent of the wrist injury he has been dealing with since that big Supercross crash at Detroit with the 450 outdoor champ confirming ligament damage on the even of the SMX series.

Speaking in the press conference Hunter said: Yeah, just kind of a light week after Ironman. Unfortunately I kind of partially tore, I think it’s a TFS ligament from my wrist to my hand, so just kind of tread lightly on that and get that as much recovered as we could.

“So yeah, not amazing testing, but with rain this week and stuff we got to ride once, and I think it was probably good practice for what we’re going to ride today and tomorrow. So yeah, it should work out.”

Hunter has been still able to win despite the injury so it should be more of the same in SMX but it goes to show just how tough the Aussie is both physically an mentally to challenge for both major titles despite issues with his wrist.

More on the TFS ligament via Google:

  • What it is: A complex of ligaments and cartilage on the “pinky” side of the wrist. It includes the dorsal and volar radioulnar ligaments, the ulnocarpal ligaments, and a central cartilage disc.
  • Function: It acts as a main stabilizer and shock absorber for the wrist and forearm.
  • Injuries: A TFCC tear unter is a frequent cause of wrist pain, popping, or clicking. It usually happens from a fall on an outstretched hand.
