Despite being Mr USA when it comes to the MXoN, Ricky Johnson, says he agrees with Haiden Deegan not going to the event being he should be focusing on Supercross in 2027.
RJ said on the Ricky and Rob podcast: “As an American, yes, I’m disappointed and upset because I think he’s gritty, he’s that guy. I think that track would play good for him. You know, if we were going to Lommel or some of the sand tracks in Holland, I don’t want to mess with herlings and DeWolf and those guys. They’re on another level.
“But Ernee France is hard pack, it’s hilly, it’s got that kind of California feel to it, similar to Washougal, I’m going to say, like it’s kind of got that Washougal feel to it. So I think he would do good.
“But as a racer, knowing what it’s going to take to beat the Lawrence brothers, I support his decision 100%. It’s like, I’m going to miss you. I wish you were here, just like he got hurt last year and was talking about riding, but I got to, I got to understand it.
“You know, if I’m a Deegan fan, I’m like, you’re doing what you think is best to try to be the Supercross champion next year.”
