One of Latvia’s leading and most talented next-generation motocross riders, Edvards Bidzāns, will start the 2026 season with brand-new machinery – the Ducati Desmo MX450, which debuted on the motocross market this year and has already received plenty of positive feedback from the European moto media. The collaboration is between Latvia’s official Ducati representative with 24 years of experience, “Ducati Rīga”, and one of the most established motocross organisations in Latvia – the sports organisation “RODEO MX Racing Team”, which actively develops motorsport and currently supports the further professional career of Edvards Bidzāns.
Ducati, internationally recognised up until now as a prestigious and technologically advanced motorcycle brand in road racing and street motorcycles, is debuting in the motocross world with the completely new Ducati Desmo MX450. The Italian-made motocross model stands out with a powerful and flexible engine, Desmodromic valve technology and top-class components, including Showa suspension and Brembo brakes. Test riders have praised its handling, balance and dynamics, and the model is already being called one of the most promising new motorcycles on the MX market.
Edvards Bidzāns is one of the brightest young Latvian motocross talents, who has proven himself both nationally and internationally. His career began in early childhood, and he soon became one of the most noticeable rising stars in the Baltic region.
Edvards gained wide recognition by becoming the European champion in the EMX65 and EMX85 classes in the Czech Republic in 2016 and 2019 – achievements which marked the beginning of his professional international career. Since then, he has regularly represented Latvia in top-level competitions, including the Motocross of Nations, where only the country’s best riders take part.
In recent years, Edvards has continued his career in world-level competitions. Stepping up to the more powerful 450cc/MX1 class, Bidzāns remains competitive thanks to his precise riding style, strong physical preparation and ability to adapt to challenging track conditions.
“Edvards is a determined athlete with a professional attitude toward his training process, a strong work ethic and steady progress. His development in recent years shows the potential to compete at the highest international level,” notes the RODEO MX Racing Team.
2026 season — a new chapter with the Ducati Desmo MX450
The exact 2026 race schedule will be confirmed in the spring once all official events are finalised. Until then, Edvards is undergoing an intensive winter preparation program to fully adapt to the new motorcycle.
RODEO MX Racing Team’s goals for the upcoming season:
-
Main priority — win the Latvian Championship in the MX1 class;
-
Fight for the Lithuanian and Estonian championship titles if the Baltic events align;
-
Racing outside the Baltics in March, April, May and September if logistics and study schedule allow;
-
Possible international races in the Czech Republic (Loket), Italy, Germany, Sweden, as well as participation in the MXGP round in Kegums;
-
Considering racing in the German ADAC MX Masters series, where Edvards has competed previously.
“The new Ducati Desmo MX450 is a big step forward. It’s powerful, precise and gives a great feeling on the track. The first training sessions have been nothing but positive, so now the focus is on preparation to have a strong season and fight for titles,” says Edvards Bidzāns.
