Official: Season over for Marc-Antoine Rossi – more surgery required

Since inking his factory contract, Marc-Antoine Rossi’s career has unfortunately been dominated by injuries rather than results. The highly-rated French rider had been aiming to get back behind the gate before the end of the 2025 season, with positive signs emerging earlier this summer that a comeback could be on the cards.

That hope seemed justified when Rossi made an appearance at the final round of the French Elite Championship and he even got on the podium. It was a significant moment after such a long lay-off, and many hoped it would be the first step in building momentum ahead of the 2026 campaign.

However, his return was short-lived. Inflammation in his shoulder flared up almost immediately after the race, forcing him to stop riding again. Compounding the frustration, Rossi’s knee — already operated on twice before — still wasn’t at full strength. Medical checks have now confirmed that another surgery will be necessary, meaning a third operation on the same knee.

This latest setback ends his 2025 season prematurely and adds to what has been a frustrating chapter since joining the factory setup. While the constant injuries have stalled his progress, Rossi’s raw speed and natural talent remain unquestioned. The focus now shifts to recovery and preparation for 2026, with the hope that an injury-free season will finally allow him to showcase his full potential on the world stage.

If Rossi can secure the right ride for next year and stay healthy, there’s every reason to believe he can get back to battling at the sharp end — where his talent truly belongs.

Rossi revealed the news via social media:

It is hard to accept this season is finished, I’ve so much more to prove. I have to do another surgery to fix my knee and my shoulder also isn’t 100% better so it’s better to be good before going back to the GP’s. It’s been two hard years with two big injuries and not so much time on the bike but we keep the head up. I’m not done and the best is coming.
