An AMA rider racing the last MXGP of the year!?

Lewis Philips believes there could be an AMA rider racing the final MXGP round of the year in Spain and maybe even more than one! With the event taking place the week after the SMX finale and week before the MXoN, maybe it would also be a good spot for the European location for the much anticipated MXGP/AMA combination race if it ever goes to a round in the US and Europe (currently it’s just been muted to happen in the US).

The timing of course makes perfect sense to get prepared for the MXoN by racing a full two-day GP event after they have been in SMX mode, helping them get used motocross again, to the different competition and simply enjoy a new experience! So who could it be? Assuming it’s team USA MXoN related you would have to be looking at top guy likely to be chosen, so probably a KTM or Star Yamaha rider – Deegan v Coenen and De Wolf? Tomac? Sexton/Vialle in with KTM? Maybe even a couple of Australians joining Gajser at Honda. Let’s see…

AMA riders have the hype and if one or two show up it could make it two of the best weekend’s on the InFront Moto Racing calendar with them joining a potential title deciding GP weekend then continuing the battles one week later at Matterley Basin!

Speaking on the MXGP podcast on Vital with Adam Wheeler, Lewis dropped the rumour saying: “I do believe you will see and AMA rider, at least one AMA rider wildcarding in Spain.” Get more at 48 minutes in or just watch the whole Lombok race review below:
