450cc race results: SMX Playoff 1 – Columbus – Deegan dominates!

Race One:  Haiden Deegan took his first win on a 450 after passing Jorge Prado early and checking out in the mud with Ken Roczen taking second and Prado taking a steady third as Hunter Lawrence crashed at least twice and finished 21st, two laps down.

Deegan said: “I don’t think you guys understand how bad I wanted this. I’ve been working my butt off. Job’s not finished, we got one more, but this is just the start baby!”

Race Two: Deegan led wire to wire in race two and coped well with some early pressure from Ken Roczen but once Roczen tipped over Deegan had a comfortable lap and brought it home to confirm his first overall win on a 450! Roczen took third with Webb winning the battle with Prado for fourth. Hunter Lawrence had more crashes but got back to eighth however, it was Prado who now takes the red plate into the second SMX round by 2 points over Deegan with Webb four back and Roczen 8 behind.

Deegan said: “It’s a dream come true. I just won a 450 race, this is crazy. I want to give a big thanks to my team, my family, this is insane. I can’t express how happy I am, it’s such a weight off the shoulders. You dream of moments like this and I’m so grateful to get it done. Especially on a day where these guys have a lot of experience in the mud. I’m glad I could pull it off in these conditions. It was a damn good ride, it definitely gives me some confidence and I already have a lot of confidence but it takes a bit of weight off the shoulders, I’ve been looking for this one, I’m so happy.”
