Race One: Haiden Deegan came from seventh to win the opening moto after Chance Hymas led early then went down when Deegan was third and closing in. Shimoda worked his way into second, Hymas took third as Vialle worked his way into fourth and Beaumer, after leading when Hymas went down, took fifth.
Race Two: Haiden Deegan passed Tom Vialle, Julien Beaumer and then kept Jo Shimoda at bay to to start the season with a perfect 1-1 day and underline why he is the overwhelming favourite for the championship. Shimoda took second with Vialle third as Beaumer, who passed Vialle and led for 15 minutes took fourth.
Deegan said: “My bike could be better, but this track is so gnarly. Perfect 1-1.”
