250cc race results: AMA Nationals RD2 – Lawrence wins at Hangtown

Race One: Despite not having the best gate pick, Haiden Deegan grabbed the holeshot ahead of his team mate, Justin Cooper and started to pull away at the front. Jett Reynolds was in third before crashing promoting Tom Vialle up to third with the impressive Guillem Farres fourth. Hunter Lawrence was buried after a bad start. Vialle started to come under pressure and both Farres and Lawrence made moves before the French rider had a small tip over.

Lawrence was able to work his way into third but by that stage Deegan and Cooper were gone. The more experienced, Cooper did catch Deegan but couldn’t get close enough to pass – it was an impressive race win for Deegan. Lawrence has the pace to win but will need to improve his starts. Shimoda and Hampshire recovered from bad starts to finish fourth and fifth respectively ahead of Farres as he started to fade.

Race Two: The second moto was the Hunter Lawrence show as he took a better start and ran into the distance to take the win. Justin Cooper was second but couldn’t do anything about the Aussie. Jalek Swoll was third early in the moto before a mistake which promoted Vialle up to third and he was able to pull away from the riders behind – he looked much more comfortable on the bike. Deegan took a bad start which wasn’t ideal at a track that was hard to pass on but he recovered to fourth.
