Anstie looks ahead to defending his World Supercross title

Max Anstie is back in World Supercross and back with the number one plate as the Brit seeks to retain his SX2 title and Anstie feels the series can do a great job of extolling the virtues if Supercross globally and especially in his native UK, which is round two of the series after the Canadian opener tonight.

Anstie said: “I want to be part of something bigger and show the world Supercross and I’m a part of it and to have won it twice now, to have the weight of that number one play and try to continue that momentum going forwards, it’s cool, it’s exciting and, and it’s something that I really look forward to.

“In the UK, it’s great for me to be able to showcase my Supercross skills and what I do. I’ve been living in America now for the last few years and friends, family, fans, they know me from like the GP days. They know me from Matterley Basin Basin, MXoN in 2017, all that stuff. But I’m different now, I’m the Supercross guy,  the World Supercross guy and a two-time World Supercross champion. I really think that this is going to elevate the sport globally, but also in the UK, because the UK, we don’t have much Supercross. They’re starting an Arenacross series and things like that, but they don’t have this.

“So for the calibre of riders that we have to come over and do that and show showcase what we do, how professional, how much of a show it is, how you can bring out your kids. If you don’t know anything about Supercross, you can bring your kids to come to the race and watch this cool event. It’s a cool thing to go and see. It’s like going on a concert but also, we’re athletes. We’re doing our thing to perform at the highest level.”
