What happened Eli Tomac in Detroit?

Eli Tomac had a puzzling ride at Detroit on the back of a dominant final main event win in A2 the week before.

Tomac started third but ended up tenth not looking comfortable and even letting Anderson and Plessinger past.

The Yamaha press release didn’t give much away with Tomac saying:

“It was a frustrating race, and I struggled in the main event. We’ll do our best to rebound next week.”

Team Manager Jeremy Coker perhaps alluded to the fact it may be a bike issue: “Eli had a great start but was not comfortable on the bike in the main and salvaged points in 10th.”

Vital MX rumours said that there may have been a problem with the shock – whatever it was it was not the real Eli Tomac and it cost him a lot in the championship. With Jett winning from Sexton, Eli is now 16 points behind championship leader Sexton.

But if anyone can rebound it’s Eli Tomac!
