Lucas Coenen was ten minutes away from going 1-1 and winning his first ever GP at just 16 years old when the chain broke and delayed at dream come true!
Coenen, who was a couple of seconds ahead of a charging Everts, said: “Never felt so bad! Was going for 1-1 then chain broke!”
There is no doubt this kid is special and as he showed in EMX125 and EMX250 the last two seasons, once he figures out how to win he keeps doing it. Coenen could easily have won moto two in Latvia last weekend except for a crash while ten seconds out front and this week, after a dominating race one win, the chain derailed what would have been the biggest day of his career to win a GP at 16 and just halfway into his first full GP season.
But it shouldn’t too much longer of a wait until this teenage sensational wins his first GP…
