Tøndel parts ways with SM Action KTM

Cornelius Tøndel signed with the SM Action KTM team to contest the MX2 World Championship this year and had some top ten results before a health issue seen him return to Norway.

It has now been confirmed that Tøndel has parted ways with the SM Action KTM team but he will race a couple of the MX2 World Championships that take place in Europe before the end of the season with help from Norwegian sponsors.

The future is unknown for Tøndel but he’ll be hoping to secure an MX2 GP ride for the 2024 season.

“Things are changing fast in the mx world! Cornelius’ team in Italy has had various organizational problems due to injury/illness, and therefore cannot complete the season as planned. Cornelius has been enjoying his time at home and in the cross environment, and is now in better shape. Due to a sudden lack of team agreement, other solutions have to be established on short notice, and “the one and only” Polaris Nordmøre Motocross provides bikes and backing so that Cornelius can run a couple of European Championship races to begin with. Then we’ll see what falls into place and what races can be run. In a somewhat troubled period, the Czech Republic and Belgium are therefore on the schedule for the coming weeks”, Tøndel stated on social media.
