It was looking like Romain Febvre would have first gate pick for the qualifying race but Maxime Renaux had other ideas and put in the quickest lap right at the end of the session in a French 1-2. Jorge Prado was third quickest ahead of Yamaha duo Glenn Coldenhoff and Jeremy Seewer with Jeffrey Herlings in ninth.
