Rumour: VRT Racing team to change manufacturer for 2024?

For the 2023 season, French based team, VRT Racing secured official support from KTM to run the EMX250 championship team. The team did a great job with team manager Mickael Vrignon and trainer, Pierre Alexandre Renet.

Marc-Antoine Rossi and Ferruccio Zanchi were picked up by the team, two riders with good potential but they both exploded this year under the VRT KTM awning. Zanchi finished fourth in the championship with Rossi finishing seventh after an injury but dominated the final round of the series at Matterley Basin.

Both riders are expected to move on from the team in 2024 making the move up to the MX2 World Championship (more on Rossi, here) and things are expected to change at the VRT team as well going into the 2024 season.

The team are expected to run the official Yamaha EMX250 team after it was confirmed the Hutten Metaal Yamaha team will run the MX2 World Championship for the 2024 season. Swedish based team, JWR Honda had been linked with the Yamaha EMX250 official effort but that is now not expected to happen with VRT going blue instead.

It is expected that Janis Reisulis, Karlis Reisulis and Ivano van Erp will be under the awning in what will be a very strong EMX250 rider line up for 2024. The VRT setup also allowed Rossi and Zanchi to contest wildcard MX2 GP’s so shouldn’t stand in the way of that either which is always good.

It remains to be seen if KTM will offer official support to another team in the EMX250 series.
