Rumour: Standing Construct to run Factory Husqvarna MXGP team in 2022?

At the start of the year the word from the MXGP paddock is that the Austrian brands would be making cuts for the 2022 season and reducing the amount of full factory teams in the paddock.

One team affected by this has been IceOne Racing and it’s already been confirmed they won’t be running the full factory Husqvarna MXGP team in 2022. It’s yet to be confirmed but they’re expected to run the Factory Kawasaki team as they’ll switch manufacture.

There’s likely to be even more changes on the Austrian side. At first the talk was that the Nestaan Husqvarna team would run both MX2 and MXGP riders but they’ve decided to fully focus on MX2 and EMX250 with Kay de Wolf, Roan van de Moosdijk and Maxime Grau.

The Standing Construct team who have done a great job running the Factory GasGas team working with Glenn Coldenhoff, Ivo Monticelli, Pauls Jonass and Brian Bogers over the past two years are now expected to make the switch to Husqvarna machinery but it will allow them to keep their full factory status in the paddock.

Apart from a change of manufacture, the riders are expected to stay the same under the Standing Construct awning so Pauls Jonass and Brian Bogers are expected to be the factory Husqvarna riders in 2022.

The de Carli team are then expected to make the switch to GasGas machinery which will see Jorge Prado make the move from orange to red.

These deals are still to be confirmed but we will bring you the news as soon as it’s official.
