Rumour: Alberto Forato heading to Standing Construct Honda in 2024?

What a season it has been for Alberto Forato contesting the MXGP World Championship. The Italian will currently seventh in the standings and that is where he is going to finish this year despite not getting the best of starts.

His best round of the series came at his home round in Maggiora winning the MXGP qualifying race and then just missing a podium on race day but his speed certainly wasn’t the problem.

With the SM-Action KTM team expected to make the change to Fantic for 2024 and focus on the MX2 World Championship it means that Forato has been on the look out for another ride for 2024. We believe the Italian did have talks with Revo who will enter the MXGP World Championship again next year but has instead decided to go to the Standing Construct Honda team next year. It’s thought he actually put pen to paper the Friday before the Maggiora GP – perfect timing for the team as he was on a mission at the weekend winning the MXGP qualifying race.

It means that Forato will make the switch back to Honda machinery but he’s familiar with the brand having raced the EMX150 series back in the day and he was also part of the Assomotor Honda team in the past.

Factory KTM did have the option to keep Forato in the Austrian family and give him a full factory ride but it looks like they’ll only have Jeffrey Herlings as the factory MXGP rider once again in 2024.

Standing Construct will be hoping to provide the platform to take Forato to the next level and be a consistent top five rider in 2024.
