We heard the sad news last week that the Standing Construct Honda team have decided close their doors on the back of the 2024 MXGP World Championship season. It means that Alberto Forato who was with the team this year alongside Pauls Jonass, has been forced to search for another ride.
It was also revealed last week that Pauls Jonass inked a deal with Factory Kawasaki but Forato has had to be quick to find another ride. The Italian who was getting better and better towards the end of the 2024 season after returning from injury is likely to remain on Honda machinery.
We understand that Forato will be heading to the SR Motoblouz Honda team for the 2025 season. The team had a strong season in MXGP with Kevin Horgmo and Valentin Guillod finishing eighth and ninth in the standings respectively. There’s no doubt the team do a great job – it’s not easy to battle against the full factory bikes.
It has already been announced that Horgmo will remain with the team and Forato is now expected to be the second rider under the awning. After being based in Belgium with the Standing Constuct Honda team, Forato will be based in France moving forward.
Forato also worked with Stefan Everts as a coach whilst he was with the Standing Constuct Honda team but he’ll now be under the watchful eye of Yves Demaria. It’s going to be quite the change for Forato but there’s no doubt heh has plenty of potential for the future.
It remains to be seen what the future will hold for Valentin Guillod who has had two great years with the team but he’s motivated to remain in the MXGP paddock.
