Ivan Van Erp was leading and looked set to win after working his way to the front only to go down hard over the bars in braking bumps before getting nailed by his spinning back tyre, with medics spending a long time at his side. That left Zanchi in the lead with Bonarcorsi running out of time to make the pass.
Lotte van Drunen worked her way through the top five to pass Cas Valk to take the lead and the win in a classy display of sand riding with Valk second.
