Results: Irish MXoN rider selection poll

Just for a little bit of fun we decided to run an Irish MXoN rider selection poll ahead of this years event which is heading to Matterley Basin in October.

We had over 750 votes so thanks to everyone that took the time to enter their vote.

The results are interesting… It’s good to see that the clear pick of the team is Jason Meara who is having the best year of his career so far running top five in the British Championships as well as the fastest 40 series in the UK. Meara also contested the EMX Open series in Belgium and definitely deserves to be selected.

The experienced Martin Barr is also clearly the second pick for our readers. Back on a Honda with the Apico Honda team Barr has quietly been very solid and there’s no doubt that Ireland could do with his experience in this years event.

Barr and Meara would obviously be the 450cc rider choices for team Ireland.

For the MX2 rider, it’s tight in the votes with Cole McCullough just ahead of Glenn McCormick in the votes but it is close as there’s only 11 votes between the pair. McCullough has been racing all over Europe this year in the EMX125 class fighting and battling against some of the best young talents in the world so knows what it’s like to race on the big occasion.

Whereas McCormick has been focusing on racing in the British Championship, fastest 40 series as well as the Scottish series on his Chambers Husqvarna.

We should hopefully hear soon the official news of who will represent Ireland at this years event.
