Moto one
Eli Tomac fired out of the gate to beat Jett Lawrence for the holeshot and from there he controlled the race with a 4-5 second lead all moto. Jett Lawrence took second after falling back to third behind Hunter but worked hid way back to second with Chase Sexton fourth – behind three of his biggest rivals. Not the race the outdoor champ wanted.
Tomac said: “Was able to ride the whole 20 minutes like I wanted too. The bike is feeling really good, loving where we are at.” Lawrence said he felt a bit rusty in the first few laps and had to “blow off the cobwebs” before finding his rhythm but by then Tomac had the gap he needed.”

It’s thumbs up for both Lawrence and Tomac who look back to their best already.

Lawrence said: “I surprised myself. Race pace is different to practice! It was a cool thing to do, a goal checked off (racing Eli). Super pumped to be up here again – I’m back.”
Tomac said: I felt really good it was close. The rhythm section got me, he was better in the sand too but I coulda survived that. But as soon as I started missing the big quad…then i wasnt able to do the over, over so well. We try to learn from it but either way it was a really fun day and I felt really good on the motorcycle.”
Sexton said: “We have a lot to improve on. It felt like a re-run if Chicago last year, trying super hard but wasn’t really going that fast. Got to find some comfort but these guys are riding really well and honestly just smoked me today. Got to get better.”
