Race results: EMX125 RD4 – Spain – Van Erp on top

In the opening EMX125 moto, it was the fast starting Max Werner who took the holeshot and led the early stages. Cas Valk was the man applying the pressure and despite making some mistakes himself at a rutty and hard pack circuit made a move stick to get himself into the lead.

It was Alexis Fueri on the move though and it didn’t take him long to work his way up to the front and into the lead – he went on to dominate winning the event by 13 seconds over his team-mate to narrow the championship lead.

Janis Martins Reisulis rode well to come home in third ahead of Marc-Antoine Rossi. Unfortuantely, Ivan van Erp and Karlis Alberts Reisulis were buried down the order on the opening lap but sliced through the field to finish fifth and sixth respectively.

In the second moto, it was Ivano van Erp who took a good start on his MJC Yamaha but it was a disaster for race one winner, Fueri as he crashed around the first corner and took a number of riders down with him.

Janis Martins Reisulis was riding strong in the top three and had one hand on the overall win before a mistake demoted him down to fourth – one mistake cost him the overall win.

Karlis Alberts Reisulis started to close on van Erp as the pair had a fantastic battling exchanging positions on a few occasions but with a few minutes to go van Erp pulled away at the front to take the moto win and the overall to go with it.

Cas Valk didn’t get the best of starts but worked his way from eleventh to fifth as Fueri came from last to eleventh to salvage important championship points.

Marc-Antoine Rossi had a great weekend finishing 4-3 to end up second overall on the podium.
