Beddini Ducati Factory MX2 have strengthened their team for the 2027 season by bringing in former Grand Prix rider Claudio Federici as their new rider coach.
The Italian outfit are making significant steps ahead of next season, having already decided to expand their MX2 World Championship line-up from one to two riders with the signing of Nicolai Skovbjerg. Now, they have added further experience to the team with Federici set to work closely with both Skovbjerg and Ferruccio Zanchi.
Federici brings a wealth of Grand Prix experience
Federici enjoyed a successful career as a Grand Prix rider throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, securing multiple GP overall victories during his time in the paddock. Since hanging up his boots as a professional racer, the Italian has remained involved in motocross, developing a career as a coach. His latest move will see him take on a new challenge within a factory Grand Prix team.
Federici is excited about the opportunity to be part of Ducati’s MX2 project and believes his experience as both a rider and coach can help the team take another step forward.
“I’m really happy and proud to be joining the Beddini Ducati Factory MX2 team. It’s an exciting new challenge for me and a great opportunity to be part of such an important project, especially with a brand like Ducati entering the MX2 World Championship”, Federici told GateDrop.com.
Working with Zanchi and Skovbjerg
The Italian will have two young talents to work with in Zanchi and Skovbjerg, with both riders looking to make progress in the MX2 World Championship. Federici is keen to understand their individual needs and help them maximise their potential.
“I’ve spent many years in motocross, first as a rider and now as a coach, and I’m looking forward to bringing all my experience and knowledge into this new role. My goal is to work closely with the riders, help them develop, and make sure we pay attention to every detail that can make a difference”, added Federici.
“Regarding Zanchi and Skovbjerg, they are two young talented riders, each with their own characteristics and potential. I believe they both have what it takes to grow and achieve important results. My job will be to understand their individual needs, work on their strengths and help them take the next step in their careers. I’m really looking forward to getting started and to this new chapter with the whole team”, Federici concluded.
The Beddini Ducati team confirmed Federici’s appointment on social media, welcoming him to the project and highlighting the experience he will bring to their factory MX2 programme.
“We’re proud to strengthen the Ducati Factory MX2 team with the addition of a truly valuable member. One of the stars of world motocross, Claudio Federici. Claudio will supervise our riders on the track, taking care of every detail”.
With two riders now set to represent the team in MX2 and an experienced Grand Prix figure overseeing their development, Beddini Ducati are continuing to build their structure as they prepare for the 2027 campaign.
