The organisers of the Argentine MXGP have posted an update ahead of the 2024 opener set to head there but at the moment there’s doubt if the event will go ahead.
Fingers crossed a resolution can be found and the MXGP event can go ahead as scheduled as teams will need to start organising everything to get there as soon as possible – it’s only 51 days away.
In other MXGP calendar news, Jorge Prado has confirmed Lugo in Spain will host an MXGP World Championship in 2024 but the date of the event is still to be confirmed.
The Argentine organisers posted the following update:
Given the high demand of queries about the eighth edition of the MXGP Patagonia Argentina 2024, to be held on March 9-10 in Villa La Angostura, the organization of the race informs that it is waiting for a formal response from the Government of the province of Neuquén.
Naturally, the organization of an international event of the dimension of the FIM Motocross World Championship, which has had continuity in Neuquén since 2015, involves months of work and planning. The race organization has maintained a continuous dialogue with the provincial government.
However, due to the prevailing date and the lack of certainty, the race organization has sent a formal note to the Governor, Rolando Figueroa, and the Minister of Tourism of Neuquén, Gustavo Fernández Capiet, waiting for a response in order to favorably develop a competition that has become a milestone for the sport and the region.
The MXGP Patagonia Argentina is one of the most important international events in Patagonia with figures of great positive impact for the region. Not only thanks to the thousands of fans from all over the continent that come to Villa La Angostura to enjoy the only date in the American continent of the championship, but also for the return on investment that this competition brings thanks to the 611 million (according to metrics audited by the promoter of the category) of global potential unique viewers per Grand Prix worldwide.
