MX1 race results: Lierop International – Herlings goes 1-1

In the opening moto there wasn’t too much of a surprise to see Jeffrey Herlings get to the front early and start to pull away at the front in the gnarly conditions. Behind him, Brent van Doninck and Jago Geerts were locked in a battle for second before Geerts made a couple of mistakes dropping him down the order to end up finishing sixth.

Calvin Vlaanderen rode a steady race for third with Henry Jacobi impressing in fourth. Max Nagl had a brilliant race in fifth.

In the second race, it was Jago Geerts holding the lead as he prepares for his MXGP rookie season and he was looking good pulling away from Herlings. He had a 15 seconds lead over Herlings who we believe had a crash in the last lap of moto one.

With four laps to go Herlings put the hammer down and with a lap to go he got the gap down to less than four seconds. On the final lap, with the track at its roughest, he set his fastest lap of the race (1.46) to catch and pass Geerts to go 1-1.
