Barr and Simpson injured at Blaxhall

It was a tough couple of days for the MX1 British Championship with Tommy Searle injured before the event and both Shaun Simpson and Martin Barr hurt during the event.

Barr somehow raced with broken ribs, partially collapsed lung and two broken vertebrae, after a big crash in practice, saying: “Tough old weekend at Blaxhall for the British championship, I set off for free practice and with the track conditions the way they were I landed off a jump and the bike stopped dead and threw me over the bars I hit the ribs pretty good and felt quite second hand! It happened to a few of us and the session was red flag, I’d like to wish @shaunsimpson24 a speedy recovery!

“I managed to get myself together and get back out for qualifying, I ended up 6th which I was happy about! I knew the day was going to be hard but I gritted my teeth and ended with a 10-14 scorecard for 13th overall, not great but I’ll take it as I couldn’t ride my normal self. I went to hospital yesterday, a few X-rays and CT scans later I was sent home with two broken/displaced ribs, partially collapsed lung and two broken Vertebrae, not the news I wanted to hear but I guess that’s motocross for ya. Big thanks to my team @apicohusqvarna @dylanbrown6941 & mechanic @jamesmartintwentythree for all there hard work,it’s just a little bump in the road and I’ll be back stronger soon.”
