Stefan Everts told us last week there had been some changes made during the season for Liam and now Sporza.be have revealed that Liam’s buddy and former rider, Axel Roelants, plus his mechanic are the closest to Liam during the race weekend with Stefan more of a background presence due to nerves!

“For a few weeks now, Liam Everts has been changing tack. Buddy friend Axel Roelants and mechanic Marc Pluymers are now closest to the 18-year-old crosser, father and motocross legend Stefan Everts is now guiding his son from a distance.
“Stefan is technically a key. He will take on that role,” Roelants explained.
“But because he is a bit nervous, he unconsciously creates pressure for Liam. That’s why Stefan is now keeping a bit in the background.”
“Marc and I are now the points of contact for Liam during the motocross weekend.”
Roelants keeps the pressure off Everts junior as much as possible.
“During the winter, we always kept the top eight in mind. He’s succeeding in that and I’m hammering on that too. Even after the win in Germany, I keep imprinting that top 8 on him.”
