Jan Pancar strong at opening Italian championship


The legendary track of Maggiora is the backdrop for the restart of the Italian Prestige 2021 championship, Jan Pancar and the KTM Racestore Team have decided to take to the track also in anticipation of the world championship that will take place next 3-4 July.

On the first day of competition the bottom of the Novarese track is in perfect condition, Jan Pancar in timed practice sets an excellent third time in his group, the Slovenian driver immediately found himself at ease demonstrating the progress already highlighted by the International races of Italy.

The races on Sunday took place with the bottom of the track in poor condition due to the abundant rain that fell during the night.

In race 1 Jan was unable to get a good start and immediately lost many positions, but Pancar managed to manage the race perfectly without making any mistakes, managing to finish in tenth position.

Late start also in the second heat of the day, but Jan with a great performance, manages to recover the leading group immediately bringing home the fifth final place.

Thanks to the two results, Pancar is sixth in the day’s standings, the next appointment with the Italian championship is April 24-25 on the Mantua track.

Paolo Mencacci comments on the race as follows: “Jan has been really good, I am very satisfied with his progress in recent months and this makes us understand that the work we are doing leads us in the right direction even if his conditions are not yet at 100%. . Too bad for the departures but the pace to stay in the top three is there.”
