During the MXGP of France, Isak Gifting was caught up in a bizarre start crash which ruled him out for the rest of the GP.
The Swedish talent who is racing for Italian team, JK Yamaha this year did race the third round of the Italian championship but it turns out he rode with a broken hand fighting through the pain barrier. He ended up fifth overall and keeps the red plate heading to round four.
Gifting has confirmed he’ll sit out the next couple of GP’s but he showed how tough he was at the weekend with a title on the line.
“We keep the red plate riding with a broken hand… The start crash in France last weekend resulted in a fractured hand. 6 days later I decided to ride the Italian Championship round 3 to salvage points. I remain championship leader with 5th overall this weekend. Felt like the longest 2 x 30min ever. Thanks Lucas Terlino for the treatment this week to get me to the race. I will now have to sit out a couple weeks to heal my hand, but the championship is alive, see you soon”, Gifting revealed on social media.
