Injury update: More surgery for Ivo Monticelli

A shoulder injury ended Ivo Monticelli’s 2021 MXGP season and his recovery hasn’t gone according to plan either. The Italian who’s signed with JM Honda for the 2022 season has needed to undergo a second surgery.

The Italian will be hoping the second surgery has been successful so he can turn his attentions on the 2022 MXGP season. With the season scheduled to get underway at the end of February, it means he won’t have the ideal off-season.

“Here we go again. Unfortunately the first surgery didn’t go as well as we hoped… Problems began when I started to put some weight on my shoulder and from the last check-up we saw that there was still something wrong. I’ll have to start all over again but that’s not a problem for me cause I’ll do the best I can to get back in shape ASAP. Thank you guys very much for all the messages you’re sending me”, Monticelli stated on social media.Â
